Sweeping down over the river of ice, a crow surveys his mountain kingdom. Guardians of wild places and messengers between worlds, crows are clever and adaptable birds who understand far more than we think they do. The combination of rich black plumage against the glacial blues was an irresistible subject. Cold wax mixed with the paint and applied with tools other than brushes creates the abstract sense of movement of bird and ice.
