“The immense power one senses in the deserts of the Southwest inspires a reimagining of our shared sacred bond with this Earth, our Mother. These unique “holy lands”––vast, mysterious and challenging––exert an undeniable spiritual gravity that arouses respect and reverence. My desert images aspire to stir our sense of wholeness and meaning––beyond the familiar scientific vocabulary that describes this landscape in terms of geology, pollution levels, heat and precipitation records. A painting, on the other hand, can evoke an astonishingly transformational perspective to help us see and know the power and majesty of colossal clouds that are as imposing as mountains, and glorious sunsets painted with a palette beyond the limits of imagination. As the ever-changing desert light defines and redefines those haunting landscapes, that light and those forms tug at our minds and hearts––directing our attention inward to our almost forgotten sacred center.
