Krystii Melaine - Afloat - Ring-Necked Duck

This smartly dressed Ring-necked duck floats quietly on the water’s surface, making barely a ripple. His bold black and white plumage is a focal point in a gentle expanse of soft greens and grays. Living high on the banks of our little river, I see ducks from above most of the time, so this vantage point is natural to me. The effects they have on the water and how the ripples reflect the surroundings provide me with endless abstract patterns to explore in paint.
