Bruce Lawes - On Golden Light
This painting depicts the Great Grey Owl flying through a boreal forest illuminated by filtered light giving the viewer a feeling of a golden glow of sunlight. This particular Owl is the only owl seen in the eastern and western hemispheres. In addition to being known as the Great Grey Owl.
In some areas, it is also called Phantom of the North, cinereous owl, spectral owl, Lapland owl, spruce owl, bearded owl, and sooty owl. Many people love owls, as they too convey a sense of mystery and spiritualism. In some cultures, owl calling from a sacred grove at night is said to have captured the spirit of a human being leaving this world. However, in my painting, I wanted to convey the beauty of movement, light and a spiritual glow of this magnificent creature.
